Sending: Chrysler Museum of Art - Third Thursday Performance, UrbanGlass, GAS Conference, May-June 2017
Bylta presents a performance entitled Sending, a verb meaning to emit or transport in English, and in Icelandic, a noun, meaning transmission. With the help of Toledo area artists and Bowling Green State University students, Sending interconnects musical and glass creative practices through harnessing the semiconductive properties of glass to “play” and create a composition, using the Makey Makey device as a bridge. In this performance, Bylta intends to expose the energy that flows between earth, each other, and physical material, and reveal creativity as a greater sense of connection.
The premiere of Sending took place at Chrysler Museum's Perry Glass Studio, VA on May 18th 2017 in the Third Thursday series. Further shows at UrbanGlass, NYC May 20th and the Glass Art Society´s GAS Conference in Norfolk, VA on the Corning Museum of Art´s mobile stage on June 2nd.
Performers in Sending: Alli Hoag, Tinna Thorsteinsdóttir, Davis Hartman, Lauren Rusch, Emily Cale, Jackie Polofka, Ben Fasciano, Keegan O’Brien, Tess Healy, Adam Lewton, Jess Broderson.
